TaskBuddy Terms of Service

Published for the closed test, and still under legal review. A qualified lawyer is reviewing these Terms; where their advice changes anything we will update this page and the version below.

TaskBuddy is directed at children, so these Terms must be read together with the Privacy Policy and the applicable children's-privacy laws — COPPA (US), the GDPR including Art. 8 (EU), the UK GDPR and Age Appropriate Design Code, and Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

1. Who may accept these Terms

These Terms form an agreement between us and the parent or legal guardian who creates a TaskBuddy account. You must be 18 or older and able to enter a binding contract. Children use TaskBuddy only through a child profile created and supervised by their parent/guardian; the parent accepts these Terms on the child's behalf and is responsible for the child's use.

2. Acceptance

By creating an account or using TaskBuddy you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If we make material changes, we will notify you and, where required, ask you to re-accept.

3. The service

TaskBuddy is a family task-management application: parents create tasks and rewards, children complete tasks (optionally with photo evidence) and earn points/XP, and parents approve completions and manage rewards. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

4. Accounts, security, and family data

5. Cost

TaskBuddy is free to use today. There is currently no paid tier, no subscription and no in-app purchase. The points, rewards and cosmetic items in the app are earned through use and cannot be bought with money.

5.1 If we introduce paid features

We may add paid features in future. Nothing in this section applies until we do, and we will not begin charging without telling you first. When paid features exist, these rules will govern them:

5.2 Cancelling and refunds, when paid features exist

You will be able to cancel at any time. Paid access will continue to the end of the period you have already paid for and will not renew after that. Refunds will follow the rules of the channel you bought through, plus any statutory rights you cannot be asked to give up — including, for consumers in the EU/EEA and the UK, the right to withdraw from a distance contract within the period your law provides.

6. Cancellation and deleting your account

You may stop using TaskBuddy and delete your family account at any time from the parent dashboard. Deleting the account removes your family's personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.

While the service is free there is nothing to cancel or refund. If you hold a paid subscription when you delete your account, §5.2 applies.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or the law, with notice where practicable.

8. Content you provide

You (and your children, through you) retain ownership of the content you upload (such as task photos). You grant us a limited licence to host and display that content solely to operate the service for your family. We do not use your children's content for advertising or to train unrelated products. Photo evidence is stored privately as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Intellectual property

TaskBuddy and all related software, designs, and content are owned by Evolution Prime IT Ltd and protected by law (see the LICENSE file). We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your family's personal, non-commercial use. No other rights are granted.

10. Service availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and will give reasonable notice of material adverse changes where practicable.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free or meet every requirement. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (including certain consumer rights).

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Evolution Prime IT Ltd is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to £100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the service or breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law and subject to consumer protections.

14. Termination

You may stop using TaskBuddy and delete your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend access for breach or where required by law. On termination, the data-deletion process in the Privacy Policy applies.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales, without limiting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.

Nothing in this section takes away rights you have under the law of your own country. In particular, if you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, the United States or Ghana, you keep the protections your local law gives you that cannot be contracted out of, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts where that law allows.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms; we will update the version number and notify you of material changes in-app or by email, and seek re-acceptance where required.
